I honestly haven’t been able to stop thinking about Call Me By Your Name since I saw it. I don’t have much in common with Elio or Oliver, but they really nailed a few small but significant details and captured what it feels like to fall in love for the first time — and have your heart broken later. It’s bittersweet, but also a wish fulfillment fantasy thanks to Professor Perlman’s validating monologue at the end of the movie. If only I could’ve seen a film like this 25 years ago everything would’ve been so different.
